The life story of Baptist missionary Kenneth Cates, forty years on the Amazon River

          Once upon a time there was a shy, sinful boy that lived in an old mill village. He roamed the streets like a devil, and he was a real troublemaker, without joy, peace, or hope. One day he claimed that God had saved him, and he seemed different. Later there was talk that he had heard the cries of the people on the Amazon River calling him, and he even had the nerve to say that God had called him to go to Brazil by faith. He promised God that on a certain day he would go, whether he had support or not. Did he think he was another John the Baptist; he claimed that his God was the same God of yesterday, and he was willing to risk his life to prove it, or else make a fool of himself trying. Why would God even look at that old village where he lived- much less at that boy, uneducated, shy, and bashful and call him to a land far away? The world was saying that God was not able to do what he use to do, acting as if God were old and feeble. Would God take care of a boy like this if He sent him to a land where he would be a stranger? We are not living in the ancient times; this is the twenty-first century. Will God be able to provide, help, and guide someone to do his will? GOD CAN DO TODAY WHAT HE HAS DONE IN DAYS GONE BY.
